As a current Alameda Councilmember and past Alameda Health Care District Board member, Lena Tam understands the important of collaboration between all stakeholders within the communities they serve. Her proven strength in facilitating discussions and navigating agreements between multiple groups with multiple thoughts and objectives have resulted in a balanced budget, economic development and a more transparent Alameda City Hall.

Lena and her family have been long-term BART riders. She is a consistent observer of BART, Lena firmly believes that the most critical goal for every BART Director, BART employee and BART Management is to Keep BART Moving.

Lena is campaigning to serve as the BART Director for District 4, which represents Downtown Oakland, Alameda, Fruitvale and portions of San Leandro. Her skills are a perfect match for these diverse geographic areas.

Lena offers solid credentials in financial accountability, labor negotiations, state and federal partnering and advocacy. She wants to address major issues like safety, BART access and parking, and she wants to act as strong Director who is decisive, focused and thoughtful.

It is a known fact in the San Francisco Bay Area; BART is vital to keeping our citizens moving and in supporting our economic growth and stability. BART represents a reliable transportation system, which helps to reduce vehicle traffic congestion, while facilitating everyone's ability to get to work, to school and to various areas around the bay. BART must keep moving.

Lena has proven her leadership as Vice-Mayor of Alameda, President of the Alameda Health Care District, and with numerous community activities that have had a positive impact on our quality of life. She is respected for her ability to drive collaboration among cross-functional and multiple interest groups.
