Candidate for
Board Member; Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District

When we moved to Livermore I volunteered to help students with math, that was the beginning of my work in education in Livermore. I was the typical volunteer mom helping in the classroom, serving on School Site Council and joining LVEF, the Livermore Valley Education Foundation.

We had a crisis in Livermore and the class sizes were going to go way up. I came up with a campaign for parents to fund the program called "Dollar a Day" by contributing a dollar per school day. The idea resonated with the community, money was raised in the short term, and the community kept smaller classes. Thanks Livermore!

LVEF coordinated with two other groups, we called ourselves "The Solution". LVEF handled the short term needs by asking the community for donations, the medium term was the responsibility of the Parcel tax committee, Livermore has since passed parcel taxes to fund those activities. And the long term group worked on the State level politics to change the way schools are funded. There has been success in that area as well. The state changed its funding to LCFF which is better for Livermore, not perfect, but better.

I have served two terms on the school board and I am running again. I appreciate the support of the community, and I think there is more work we can do together to improve our schools.
