Elect Ray J. Rodriguez for Mayor "For a Safer and Better Newark"

By Ray J. Rodriguez

Candidate for Mayor; City of Newark

This information is provided by the candidate
As Mayor, Ray J. wants to bring community participation to City Hall and work together diligently to find sources of revenue, bring resources to the city, and find solutions to make Newark a Great City.
  • Citizens/Community Groups Committee on Public Safety: to study public safety and find ways to improve the "quality of life" for all who make Newark home. It is extremely important to support programs such as Community Policing, DARE, Adopt-a-School and Neighborhood Watch to make our city safer, and to increase Police visibility and presence in our communities.

  • Revenues Advisory Board: To enter in partnership and have an ongoing, working Advisory Board with the different stakeholders in the City. The Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Owner, Industry, all other businesses in the City, and Regional Industry to look into ways to increase revenues and jobs. Develop a plan to attract businesses to our City.

  • Develop a One-Stop Service & Information Center: This location would house non-profit organizations that serve our community, and an Information Center for all the many things that the Newark area has to offer and people can enjoy i.e.: Coyote Hills, The Wildlife Refuge, The Silliman Center, Health Clinics, County Resources, etc.

  • Performance Arts/Music Center: As Mayor I will ask for a feasibility study to convert the Community Center on Cedar Blvd. into a Performing Arts Center and form an Arts Advisory Citizens Group to bring a culture of the Arts to our City.

  • Parks & Recreation: Our Parks should be center-stage and need to be well maintained and safe for all to enjoy. We also want to hear the voices of our Youth and to that end we need to establish a Youth Advisory Committee to hear about their Recreational needs.
