My roots in Oakland run deep. I've lived in Oakland for 35 years. Before I was an auditor, I owned a car repair shop on 40th Street, then called "Car World", now it's the location of Temescal Auto Works. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.434468826600189.86135.411923162188089&type=3. I've lived in East Oakland and in Temescal.

When our sons were young, I managed and coached soccer at Bushrod Soccer Club for three years. Still remember the time gunshots rang out and the head coach ordered all the kids to "hit the dirt." North Oakland has gotten better in many ways and gotten more dangerous at the same time.

My wife Betty and I live in Temescal where we raised our two sons. Both our sons graduated Claremont MS and Oakland Tech. My younger son was class president and school president at both Claremont MS and Oakland Tech. My wife is a nurse at San Leandro Hospital and member of the SEIU.
