In May 2014, I completed eight years of service on the Pleasanton Planning Commission. With a thorough understanding of our city's planning process I strongly favor slow growth policies that ensure local control over land use decisions while complying with state law. I support completing Specific Plans called for in our General Plan and want to avoid additional legal action against our city, which action historically has been very costly for us. As a councilmember my two highest priorities will be neighborhoods and business. Pleasanton is a collection of individual neighborhoods that together form our wonderful community. Preserving the small town intimate feel of individual neighborhoods will assure the community as a whole retains our small town values. Keeping our neighborhoods strong and attractive involves maintaining Pleasanton's sound financial position and our current high levels of public safety. People living in Pleasanton feel it's a safe place and I want this to continue. Businesses are vital to Pleasanton. They provide us with a large percentage of the revenue needed to keep our community fiscally sound, safe and clean. I pledge to work diligently to preserve and enhance our business base. In particular I pledge to protect the jewel of Pleasanton, our downtown. This means maintaining its vibrancy and uniqueness. As your city councilmember, I will listen to the concerns of the community, work to find common ground with our citizens and implement the best solutions so that we can continue to be, "The City of Planned Progress".
