This information is provided by the candidate |
Public Safety continues to be a top priority in our City. Our Police Department continues to employ a Community Oriented Policing Strategy that actively engages the community to increase community involvement/awareness and reduce crime. Our Police Department has employed a number of very successful programs that engage the community. These include Neighborhood Watch which now includes 46 active Watch Groups. Our "Ready Active Volunteers Engaged in Newark" (RAVEN) Program now has over 30 volunteers that work with our Police Officers at the Police Station or in the field to provide assistance with administrative or patrol support. As a result, residential burglary rates have dropped over 40% in the past year. |
