Dianne Martinez is a resident of the Triangle neighborhood of Emeryville and is running for Emeryville City Council in the November 4, 2014 election.

Dianne is mother to two preschool-aged children (Ashby and Adeline) and is a television producer with more than fifteen years of experience. Dianne also has extensive experience in the new media and gaming industries.

A daughter of Filipino immigrants who fled a dictatorship and received political asylum in the United States, Dianne was raised with a keen appreciation of the democratic process. A lifelong resident of California, Dianne grew up in an urban neighborhood of Los Angeles that, like Emeryville, is home to a diverse blend of families, students, young professionals, and both small and large businesses. Dianne is a product of the public school system, and she believes that our public schools must not only serve the basic needs of children and families from all walks of life--they must give all children the opportunity to develop and thrive.

As a homeowner, a parent, and a participant in Emeryville's corporate economy, Dianne is eager to serve the interests of Emeryville's residents. Dianne believes that local government should not be beyond the grasp of ordinary citizens. She appreciates the fact that in a small city like Emeryville, a relatively small number of residents can make a great impact.

When she's not on the campaign trail, Dianne can be found enjoying Emeryville's parks with her family (you may find her blowing oversized bubbles at Temescal Creek Park, Doyle Hollis Park, or the Emeryville Marina), riding bikes, doing yoga, and roasting coffee.
