Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Gwen Estes

Candidate for
Board Member; New Haven Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate

My campaign platform is Gwen for K.I.D.S. The K.I.D.S. stands for Knowledge, Integrity, Dedication, and Support. I have the knowledge gained through experience as both a public servant, and active parent in the school community. Integrity is all about one's honesty and sincerity. I am a veteran classroom teacher who has been an advocate for our children, and those who support them for almost 20 years. I come from a family of teachers. Our combined years of service total almost 2 centuries. I am Dedicated to seeing that as a member of the NHUSD Board of Education, the policies we set enable us to adopt programs that will ensure every child has the same opportunity for success-both in and out of the classroom. I will Support those programs that will prepare every student to become a responsible, productive, member of our global society. As a former member of the NHUSD Board of Education. I consistently voted "No" to lay-offs, and reduction in essential personnel. We cannot have successful students without the necessary human resources as well. I want to restore our Fine Arts programs, expand our libraries, and have the maintenance work done on our facilities so that we are second to none, in personnel , programs and facilities. Measure M is in part a direct result of our failure to maintain our facilities. One need only look at JLHS's athletic field to see what I'm talking about. It went from simply the best, to one of the worst. Our kids deserve better. Please vote for leadership, experience, and an unwavering advocate for all of our children. Gwen for K.I.D.S. Nov. 4th Thank you.
