My political philosophy for local government is that city residents are entrust their local elected officials to reach out to them to understand their concerns, and represent their interests above all other interests. Above all, elected leaders are public servants.

Beyond representing the people first and foremost, elected officials have a responsibility to be transparent in the conduct of city business, to treat city funds as carefully as they would their own, to do their homework on issues that come before them, and to be proactive in anticipating and addressing upcoming issues of major import for the city.

I also believe that local elected leaders need to take seriously their organizational position of being accountable to the residents, and to provide strong, clear direction to city staff who are accountable to the City Council.
