Questions & Answers

1. How would you prioritize the fiscal choices the Legislature must make to align the state’s income and spending?

Highest priority should go to public safety, infrastructure, and education. Lowest priority would be social programs that to not encourage recipients to improve their situation as members of their communities or society. Our State must reduce spending on nonessential services that we no longer afford.

2. Given our current drought condition, concern for water rights and usage is an important issue. What solutions would you support to address our water problems?

We need a long term state water plan the creates more storage, flood control, hydroelectric power, and water for both agriculture and municipal/industrial north of the Delta and stop the fiscally irresponsible 'Delta Tunnel' project which will cost billions of dollars yet will not do anything in improve North State water storage. Both the northern state and southern state need water but the 'Delta Tunnels' do nothing to solve the problem.

3. California high school students rank lower than many states in student performance. What do you see as the ongoing role of the Legislature in addressing this problem?

Return control of local school districts back to the local school boards. This includes funding, cruccurliam, teaching standards and goals. The local boards are more accountable to the voters and can better deal with the needs of the students in their respective communities.
