Political Philosophy for Neel Kashkari
Candidate for |

|
I've been a Republican all my life because I believe that economic growth is the most powerful force we have to lift people up. Economic empowerment starts with a quality education and then we grow the economy so that there are good jobs available so people can work hard and make a better life for themselves. That's the American dream + and that's what being a Republican is. Being a Republican is about enabling people and empowering them to live that dream. In contrast, social programs do the opposite. Although social programs like welfare are well-intentioned, they don't empower people. I have traveled all over California and have visited some of the poorest communities. Many people in the poorest communities in our state have said that we need to end dependency. Instead of more welfare, we need to fix our schools and create more jobs. That's economic empowerment. Those are the solutions that lift people up and that's what I am a Republican. |
