1. How would you prioritize the fiscal choices the Legislature must make to align the state’s income and spending?
Education must be the first priority for spending. It is shocking that California spends 5-6 times more on prisoners than on students.2. Given our current drought condition, concern for water rights and usage is an important issue. What solutions would you support to address our water problems?
Without water we will die numerous deaths.California cannot regulate 6000 individual water districts, but can set water consumption levels for each district and let them handle voluntary conservation goals.
3. California high school students rank lower than many states in student performance. What do you see as the ongoing role of the Legislature in addressing this problem?
The purpose of the legislature is to ensure that students have an educational structure that addresses learning, not political posturing or dogma.Public schools are the only schools that should receive funding through the legislature.
4. What other major issues do you think the Legislature must address? What are your own priorities?
Campaign finance must be tackled if there will be true representation of all citizens, not just those with the money to get their way.
