Full Biography for Ronald Gold

|
Ronald Gold was born in Toronto, Canada and immigrated to Los Angeles with the Dodgers in 1958. Ron graduated from UCLA in 1968 then attended Loyola Law School. At UCLA, Ron led the campus Bobby Kennedy for President campaign and, sadly, was at the Ambassador Hotel the night Senator Kennedy was assassinated. After graduation from law school, Ron went to work at the California Attorney General's office soon becoming Deputy Attorney General. He worked on the Welfare Reform Act of 1971 with the Reagan administration in Sacramento serving as a hearing officer and liaison with the California legislature. His other duties in the Attorney General's office included multiple jury trials, published Court of Appeal decisions, Attorney General opinions and litigation for the state including defense of former governor, Ronald Reagan, and current governor, Jerry Brown. While a Deputy Attorney General, Ron taught law school for four years. He received the Board of Supervisors Award from Ventura County for his work at Camarillo State Hospital, commendations for mediation with the Court, served as a Judge ProTem, and managed, among others, the successful political campaign for the President of the Las Virgenes School District. Ron entered private practice in 1979 and has been a successful attorney for thirty-five years. Ron met Arlene at UCLA and they have been married for forty years. They have two sons, Justin, a Cal Berkeley graduate who is a probate and trust litigation lawyer and Brad, an Arizona State graduate, who is a New York Life Agent who doubles as a sports producer for Time Warner and CBS Sports. Justin and his wife, Danielle, who is a UCLA graduate, have provided Ron's two grandchildren. Brad's fiancée, Lianna, is a USC graduate and works as an occupational therapist for the Glendale School District. In his non-lawyering hours, Ron is an active volunteer for dog rescue and protection. This passion he has begins with his Labrador, Jake. As a practicing attorney for over forty years Ron has watched the Attorney General's office become increasingly ineffective serving the residents of California. He believes an unchallenged Democratic control of all of California's executive elective positions has led to a state government that has little incentive to police itself. As the Republican attorney general, Ron will help to recreate the trust that Californians used to enjoy between their elected leaders and the public. |
