Why I Love Living Here
The cities of the 74th Assembly District include my home community of Irvine as well as the great cities of Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, Laguna Beach, Laguna Woods and Newport Beach.
While Irvine is the largest business hub in Orange County with major technology industries as well as health care, financial and automotive design companies, much of the 74th Assembly District relies on the coastal resources for their economic success. We all need good jobs and a healthy economy to ensure the success of our communities. Enhancing the economic success of the 74th Assembly District will be my highest priority.
Because the coastline and beautiful natural resources of the 74th Assembly District are an important part of our profile, I am also committed to preserving and protecting our valuable coastal and open space resources.
As a career educator and public school teacher, I recognize that every aspect of our society benefits when we have world class educational resources. The 74th Assembly District is home to the nationally ranked University of California, Irvine and a number of distinguished public school districts. As a legislative representative for a district that is helping to shape the workforce of tomorrow, I will fight to ensure adequate funding for all our academic institutions.
We are also one of the most diverse Assembly Districts in California -- culturally, by faith and by lifestyle. As a Pakistani-American, I understand the value of ensuring that the civil rights we prize in America are equally enforced regardless of race, creed, gender, color or sexual orientation. I also recognize that civic involvement and political engagement are the best way for people to exercise those rights.
With your support, I look forward to victory in the June 3rd Primary election and a real chance to bring the kind of representation to the 74th Assembly District we all deserve. You have my pledge that I will work every day on behalf of the citizens of this district, focusing on solutions to move us beyond the partisan gridlock that has hurt our Country, our State and ultimately our local communities.
