? 1. In this time of high unemployment and budget deficits, what are the most important steps that should be taken to improve our nation’s economy and sustain job creation?

Answer from Yvonne Terrell Girard:

One of the greatest hindrances to hiring, and increasing our debt is the passage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which encompasses a sixth of the budget. The ACA must be repealed and a voluntary health care plan implemented without penalties to citizens who choose not to participate. In addition, there exist a great deal of fraud, waste and abuse in the federal government, which must be contained and eliminated. Finally, our priorities are out of whack. We need to set priorities and fund each budget item based upon national security concerns, and the needs of country.

? 2. What, if any, changes should be made to federal health care policies or programs?

Answer from Yvonne Terrell Girard:

Healthcare is a private issue between the patient and their doctor. The government should not be involved in the process at any point. Allowing the insured to choose from plans across state lines will make premiums more competitive, and costs will be reduced as a result. The current Affordable Care Act should be repealed and replaced with a voluntary plan.

? 3. What are your priorities with respect to our nation’s energy policy?

Answer from Yvonne Terrell Girard:

I have an all encompassing national security plan which includes energy. In order for our country to survive and not be at the beck and call of other less friendly countries, most of whom are not our allies, we need to explore all areas of energy. Coal, gas, green, and oil energy are all on the table. We need to become completely energy independent from foreign sources.

? 4. What, if any, changes should be made with respect to our nation’s security, including our national defense or anti-terrorism measures?

Answer from Yvonne Terrell Girard:

As I mentioned above, my major issue is national security, which encompasses many areas, one of which is national defense. When we set a budget and priorities, how to best secure our country and protect it's citizens should be of the utmost importance. Fully funding our military, re-opening NASA, cybersecurity, and more are just a few of the areas we can target to keep our nation secure.

? 5. What is your position on the issue of immigration reform? What, if any, changes to legislation or policy would you support?

Answer from Yvonne Terrell Girard:

Immigration is a nation security issue due to the importance of securing our borders, and ensuring terrorists are not sneaking across the border into the United States to do harm to Americans. I also believe the laws as currently written should be enforced up and until they are changed and reformed. I do not believe in giving citizenship to people who have broken the law to enter this country. I do believe we should consider green cards, after a vetting process is completed.
