1. In this time of high unemployment and budget deficits, what are the most important steps that should be taken to improve our nation’s economy and sustain job creation?

Answer from Douglas Arthur "Art" Tuma:
Federal spending cuts, tax cuts and borrowing cuts will improve our nation's economy by letting the private sector grow and grow faster. Faster private sector growth will call for more skilled workers. Sustained job creation will no doubt eventually end as skilled workers are replaced by skilled automation. From that point on, it will be the most skilled who will get a dwindling number of jobs.

2. What, if any, changes should be made to federal health care policies or programs?

Answer from Douglas Arthur "Art" Tuma:
Repeal all federal health care programs for everyone other than U.S. military and federal civil service employees, retirees and their immediate families. Federal health care is not a separate power authorized by the Constitution. It is a supporting service for those hired by the federal government to implement the enumerated and limited powers delegated to the federal government by the Constitution.

3. What are your priorities with respect to our nation’s energy policy?

Answer from Douglas Arthur "Art" Tuma:
My priorities for our nation's energy policy are: (1) remove barriers to private property development by reforming or repealing environmental protection laws; (2) remove barriers to private property ownership by relinquishing federal claims to property not authorized by the Constitution for federal government occupation; (3) stop direct federal subsidies for energy production, e.g., wind mills, solar panels, ethanol, nuclear reactors; (4) sustain the U.S. Navy to keep international seas safe for U.S. merchant ships, including oil tankers.

4. What, if any, changes should be made with respect to our nation’s security, including our national defense or anti-terrorism measures?

Answer from Douglas Arthur "Art" Tuma:
Changes should be made in the President and Secretaries of Defense and State positions. After a the previous administration defeated al-Qaida in Iraq, the current administration pulled all U.S. troops out of Iraq, leaving Iraq vulnerable to renewed al-Qaida attack. The President ignored Iraq's pleas for help against al-Qaida attacks. Al-Qaida forces killed America's ambassador to Libya. Instead of rescuing our ambassador and taking steps to prevent future attacks, the administration denied al-Qaida was responsible. The President shows no intent to win peace in Afghanistan.

5. What is your position on the issue of immigration reform? What, if any, changes to legislation or policy would you support?

Answer from Douglas Arthur "Art" Tuma:
Immigration law has not been enforced, leading to the presence of an estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants in America. The current executive administration will not likely enforce legislative changes to the law. I would support: (1) a change in administration by impeachment of the President and his appointees for failure to defend America against foreign invasion; (2) registering all undocumented immigrants by census workers and employers; (3) current paths to citizenship offered to those waiting outside the country or serving in the U.S. military.
