Deb Fudge is a Windsor Town Councilmember and former Mayor of Windsor. Deb has served on the Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) Board since 2005, serving as Chair of the Board in 2010. Deb has also served on the Sonoma County Water Agency Water Advisory Committee, the Local Area Formation Commission, the countywide Solid Waste Advisory Group, and as a Public Policy Member for Greenbelt Alliance. She is currently a Board member for the Sonoma County Waste Management Agency. Deb has also been active in cleaning up the Russian River Watershed, serving on the Russian River Watershed Cleanup Committee for over twenty years.

Deb was born in Palo Alto, CA and grew up in the surrounding area as suburban development and newly built highways cut her community in half. From a young age, Deb understood the importance of city planning and conservation. Deb spent her high school years living on a 100 year-old farm in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains. The years spent in Santa Cruz taught her about community spirit, respect for the environment, community activism and how local citizens could better plan the futures of their cities.

Deb received her Bachelors of Science degree in a field related to Community Development from University of California-Davis. After college, Deb returned to Palo Alto and worked for the Northern California Cancer Program, an affiliate of Stanford University.

Deb continued to pursue her interest in planning and obtained her Masters degree in Environmental Planning. Deb worked in Governor Jerry Brown's Office of Planning and Research and also spent 25 years at PG&E in the Energy Conservation, Customer Service and Environmental Service Departments.

In 1990, Deb moved to Sonoma County to care for her grandmother. Deb's grandparents moved to Sonoma in 1945 and Sonoma County had always been her second home. In 1994, Deb was appointed to the Windsor Planning Commission. She was elected to Town Council in 1996 and is Windsor's only five-term Mayor.

Deb was instrumental in the creation of Windsor's Downtown Plan, the visionary document behind the building of Windsor's national and regional award winning Downtown and Town Green. The Town of Windsor has received a number of awards for its land use planning efforts including the National Sierra Club's "Best New Development 2006" for downtown Windsor, and the Governor's Award for Environmental and Economic Leadership. The Town of Windsor has also been called the Bay Area's "Most Transformative City" by the Association of Bay Area Governments. As a Councilmember and five-term Mayor, Deb has helped transform Windsor from an exit on the highway to a town with a heart.

An avid cyclist and traveler, Deb has ridden her bicycle from San Francisco to Los Angeles twice and across parts of Northern Europe. Deb has family throughout the Bay Area and lives in Windsor in a 1930's farm house she restored.
