Providing first responders with the tools they need
I believe that in order to keep our city safe we must treat public safety as a priority. Service levels in San Diego have fallen dangerously low in the last few years. Our population grows, our businesses grow and yet public service personnel have been cut. As a result we are seeing our police, fire fighters, lifeguards and emergency staff stretched thin across our city. We must provide our first responders with the tools they need to keep us safe. Too often we have diverted funds to one special interest project after another at the expense of public protection. This must change. We need to ensure that any new revenue source is consistent with our city charter and that funding public safety is a priority.
