Education and Qualifications:
It has been an honor serving you on the Board of Supervisors for the last eight years. During that time, I have worked to maintain fiscal stability while preserving core programs in health care, public safety, and social services. I have fought for our fair share of regional transportation dollars, resulting in millions for local projects such as improvements to the 880/280/Stevens Creek Interchange and bringing BART to Silicon Valley, both of which are now underway.

I have focused on making Santa Clara County a healthier community by addressing chronic disease, obesity, poor nutrition, and lack of physical activity. I have authored some of the strongest ordinances in the nation to protect residents from second-hand smoke and prevent youth smoking.

As an environmentalist, I support policies that promote clean air, lower pollution, and increased renewable energy use. I also led the charge to clean up our waterways and lessen the amount of trash going into our landfills by reducing the amount of polystyrene and plastic bags used in our County.
