Candidate for
Council Member; City of San Jose; Council District 1

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

Occupation: High-tech Manager
Age: 53
Education and Qualifications:
After moving to District 1 twenty years ago, I have been active in neighborhood, district, and city leadership positions: President, Murdock Neighborhood Association; member, District 1 Leadership Group; Commissioner, SJ Neighborhoods Commission - D1; SJ General Fund Deficit Reduction Elimination Task Force; Chair, San Jose Chamber of Commerce Infrastructure Committee; San Jose Project Diversity Screening Committee; Commissioner, SJ Small Business Development Commission; and member, SJ Sports Facility Taskforce.

My priorities: Safer neighborhoods and schools, restore the police burglary unit, create more good-paying jobs through economic development, fiscal responsibility, reduce gang activity and violence by adding more police officers and using non-sworn community service officers to free up those sworn officers; and repair city streets and extend library & community center hours.

Chappie is endorsed by: Mayor Chuck Reed; D1 Councilmember Pete Constant; businesswoman Helen Wang, Campbell Union School District Trustee Julie Constant, past chair D1 Leadership Group Steve Landau; Co-founder Strawberry Park Neighborhood Assoc. Patty Brooks, and SJSV Chamber of Commerce PAC. Vote Charles Jones. http://www.votechappie.com.
