We need to encourage and actively promote new job and business creation in the city to provide additional tax revenues for essential city services
San Jose is largely a bedroom community for the entire bay area. Unfortunately one side effect of such a huge, sprawling, suburban landscape is that it costs more to run than it brings in. Cities like Santa Clara and Sunnyvale have a higher ratio of businesses versus residential areas that give them a distinct advantage in tax revenue production. To help resolve this issue San Jose must aggressively pursue and attract new businesses and expand new job creation. We must also do everything we can to help grow and expand existing businesses within the city as well. We need to streamline the planning and permit process to be extremely business and job friendly. Our location in the heart of Silicon Valley makes San Jose ideal for any business venture. We must continue to build and promote the downtown core while also building up the business parks across the city. Special incentives and tax breaks can also help us fulfill the dream of an even greater San Jose.
