Elizabeth F. Romero is running for re-election to the Riverside County Board of Education so that every young person has access to the same opportunities that she did and so our future generations can make Riverside and Imperial Counties thrive. Elizabeth was born and raised in the Eastern Coachella Valley to hardworking parents that instilled strong values including the importance of education and service to others. She is a proud product of Coachella Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) schools. After attending College of the Desert, Elizabeth transferred to UC Riverside graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Public Service. She went on to earn a Masters of Politics, Economics and Business from Claremont Graduate University. Elizabeth is currently the President of the Riverside County Board of Education (RCBE) representing Coachella Valley, Desert Center, Desert Sands, Palm Springs and Palo Verde Unified School Districts. Elizabeth also served on the Coachella Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees. In 2013, Elizabeth was elected Treasurer of the California County Boards of Education, a statewide organization that represents and serves the unique needs of California's 58 county boards of education. She is currently the youngest County Board of Education Trustee in the State of California. Professionally, Elizabeth is the Director of Community and Government Relations for Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest in Riverside County where she works to ensure broad public access to reproductive health care through direct service, education, and advocacy. Elizabeth has worked for several organizations including Desert Arc, University Center for Developmental Disabilities and served as a Legislative Assistant to the late Riverside County Fourth District Supervisor Roy Wilson and Supervisor John J. Benoit and most recently managed the Building Healthy Communities Initiative in the Eastern Coachella Valley, a 10-year, multi-million dollar place-based initiative funded by The California Endowment. Elizabeth is also an alumnus of the Women's Policy Institute sponsored by the Women's Foundation of California and serves on the Board of Directors of the Children's Discovery Museum of the Desert. |
