O.C. high school graduation rate exceeds states' due to Liz's Leadership

By Elizabeth Dorn "Liz" Parker

Candidate for Member; Orange County Board of Education; Trustee Area 5

This information is provided by the candidate
More Orange County students graduated last year and fewer dropped out of school compared with the previous year, once again outperforming students statewide. Orange County public schools have the highest graduation rates of all Southern California counties, figures released this week show.
Some 87.3 percent of Orange County's students from the Class of 2013 earned high school diplomas, compared with 85.9 percent of the Class of 2012,according to new graduation data from the California Department of Education.

By comparison, 80.2 percent of students statewide graduated, inching up from 78.9 percent.

These results are directly a result of dedicated teachers, administrators, school board members and business leaders working as a team to get to these results.I have been lucky to serve the community as a member of the Orange County Board of Education Trustees being part of that great team.

In that role, I have been instrumental in Orange County students' successes by making certain our County Office of Education provides the necessary resources the 27 school districts deserve.

There is no need to fix what is not broken. In fact voters must reward good behavior represented by strong performances. I have delivered for the students, our businesses and our community.

Returning me to office is the ONLY way we can guarantee our students, our businesses, and our community will continue to succeed.
