Why Mike?

As one of your City Councilmembers, I will focus on the following issues:

  • First and foremost, I plan to listen to the concerns of the residents and business owners - We Work for YOU!

  • Work to maintain and enhance the top 2 reasons why people choose to live in Torrance + Public Safety and our Schools

  • Continue to resist over-development within our City

  • Keep the balance that makes Torrance economically sound + residential + commercial + industrial

  • Ensure that we properly maintain and modernize our infrastructure - streets & sidewalks, traffic & transportation, utilities, and city-owned facilities

  • Attract and retain businesses which will help allow the City to provide more and better services, without having to raise taxes/fees on its residents, primarily via increased sales tax revenue

  • Direct the City to make good decisions environmentally, and have the City lead by example

  • Increase transparency of government + taxpayers should have easy access to the information on how the City spends its money and conducts its business

  • Make better use of technology to do things more efficiently

  • Support the needs of our senior citizens

These are some of my qualifications and experiences that demonstrate why you should be comfortable electing me to your City Council:

  • Proven Experience, Leadership and Integrity

  • Business Founder/Owner

  • Currently a member of the Torrance Planning Commission, and previously an Environmental Quality & Energy Conservation (TEQECC) Commissioner for 8 years.

  • Elected Chairman of TEQECC Commission for 3 consecutive years

  • Over 17 years of Volunteer service in our Community

  • Torrance South-Bay YMCA Leader of Campaign Fundraiser for 5 years, raising millions of dollars to benefit those less fortunate in our community

  • Private-Sector Business Experience - I Started my own business, grew the business debt-free, managed employees, managed finances, and managed customer and vendor relationships. Created dozens of jobs, in multiple offices, maintaining our Corporate office in Torrance

  • Long-time resident of Torrance + over 31 years living in Torrance and benefiting from its services + schools, business-friendly environment, a safe place to live and raise a family

  • Committed to Torrance + no plans to use City Council as stepping stone to higher office outside of Torrance

  • An active, trained member of the Torrance Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) since 2008, ready to provide assistance during a disaster

  • I have the time to give back and serve our Community, which is critical to performing this job effectively. My children are all adults, and I have minimal part-time work responsibilities.

  • I don't have a `Political Agenda' nor am I supported by special interests + I just want to help keep Torrance the wonderful City that it already is!
