Doug Fay - Priorities if Elected 3rd District Supervisor

By Douglas P. "Doug" Fay

Candidate for Supervisor; County of Los Angeles; Supervisorial District 3

The privilege to serve is a special treat or honor
To some, the challenge of working with 4 other individuals to manage a $32 billion budget, the welfare of 10 million residents, and over 100 thousand employees may be intimidating. Doug Fay sees it as an opportunity to assure the constituents of Los Angeles County that they can elect a candidate that will serve with honor.

His top priority is to earn more than 50% of the votes and win the June 3 election. With a $3.5 million annual budget for the 3rd District Supervisor's office, having the time to hire the best team and hit the ground running is essential for success. Approximately 30 diverse employees will be needed to manage the 3rd District's needs. Qualified applicants from within and intimately know the district are preferred. Offices will be located at multiple locations within the District including the Valley, with free parking to maximize community access.

An IT specialist will be hired to maximize public access and communication with our team through various social media including emails, texting, tweeting, Facebook, a webpage, etc. Doug will encourage more ways for County residents to vote online, or electronically, on County projects or decisions before the Board without having to physically attend meetings.

If elected Fay will immediately focus on the language in the Los Angles County General Plan Update (GPU). The GPU is the guiding land use document for the next 20 years providing insight for investors, business and property owners. The Board is known for approving projects by independent judgement. This means they are not following the adopted County policies. Fay will do everything he can to put an end to this practice.

The purpose of a supervisor at any level is quality control. At the County level you have significant fiscal and resource management responsibilities. The best way to achieve a higher level of productivity is through education and performance based evaluation and promotion. Working throughout the various County departments, Fay will solicit feedback from employees at all levels with the goal of improving their enthusiasm to serve.

When established, Fay's team will actively solicit and welcome County interests to fully participate in all aspects of County government, especially sound environmental stewardship!
