? 1. What specific personal qualities make you especially qualified to be a judge?

Answer from Andrew Cooper:

My combination of experience in criminal prosecution, civil practice and law enforcement make me well equipped to handle the diverse issues before the court. I have the proven ability, demeanor and experience to make critical decisions affecting public safety and the liberty of others.

Answer from Arnold William Mednick:

I have devoted over a decade of my life as a Referee on the Superior Court bench, hearing cases in an early intervention branch of the Juvenile Court, working daily to keep tens of thousands of kids all over Los Angeles County from becoming career criminals.

? 2. Do you favor alternative sentences for non-violent offenders in view of the current prisoner overcrowding problems, and if so, what options should be available?

Answer from Arnold William Mednick:

This is a question better addressed to your legislative representatives. A trial judge must remain impartial and neutral. I do not feel it appropriate, as a candidate for trial judge, to comment on how I might rule in matters that may come before me or issues I may be called upon to decide as a judge

Responses to questions asked of each candidate are reproduced as submitted to the League.  Candidates' answers are presented as submitted.

The order of the candidates is random and changes daily. Candidates who did not respond are not listed on this page.
