Jim McGrail was born in Oakland, CA in Alameda County, then moved to Dublin in 1977, and then moved to Livermore in 1981, where he raised his 3 children.

He became a public servant at the age of 21 when he became an Alameda County Deputy Sheriff. He continued his public service for 14 years, went to law school, and was hired with the Alameda County District Attorney's office as a prosecutor for some years. He then opened his own law practice in Livermore as he saw a need for a law office that was user-friendly and responsive to the community.

In 1999, Jim and his wife of 38 years, Ginger planted a vineyard in the south of the Livermore Valley. For the past 15 years, Jim has been involved with the farming community and agriculture needs of the Livermore Valley. He serves as a Director of the Alameda County Fair Board and also serves on the Livermore Rodeo Association.

As a member of the Livermore Valley Winegrowers Association, a winegrower in the Livermore Valley, and a long-time Livermore resident, Jim decided to run for the Zone 7 District Board to help protect our water and ensure sustainable quality water for years to come.

It's incumbent on the individuals that serve on the Zone 7 Board to make responsible decisions for our needs today and the needs of our future. Jim plans, with your help, to bring his experienced leadership and passion for the Livermore-Amador Valley to help create plans that will ensure proper water supply and high quality water flowing reliably to all consumers, businesses, and farms in the Zone 7 District.
