Political Philosophy for Dan B. Frankel
Candidate for |
In addition to the listed priorities I have long championed commonsense gun safety legislation that would both protect an individuals right to own a gun and protect Pennsylvania families from criminal activity related to the rampant availability illegally acquired guns. This would include requiring the reporting of lost and stolen weapons. I have also focused on women's health issues and have convened the Women's Health Caucus for the past four years. Our focus has included expanding access to treatment for Breast and Cervical Cancer to uninsured and underinsured women, protecting the reproductive health and rights of women and requiring comprehensive sex education including abstinence in our public schools. Finally, the first priority that I listed addresses Pennsylvania's Transportation crisis. This is issue goes to heart of our ability to promote economic vitality and our capacity to maintain and enhance our quality of life. Pennsylvania's roads and bridges are among the worst in the nation they present a threat to public safety and a deterrent to economic activity and job creation. Without additional funding for public transportation Allegheny County will be forced to cannibalize our bus and light trail service that so many rely on to get to work, to healthcare providers, universities and entertainment and shopping venues. We will suffocate our city in traffic and pollution and reverse the enormous progress our city and region have made recently. This can not be allowed to take place. |
