I have been a Marple resident for fourty years and married to Carol DeLeonardis Butler. We have two sons. I was first elected in 1984 as the First Ward Commisioner and now the Second Ward Commissioner after our neighborhood was redistricted. I was also an elected member and Vice Chairman of the Marple Township Home Rule Study Commission.
Some of the things that I have accomplished are Single Stream Recycling that is saving approximately $200,000 a year, reduced township healthcare costs by approximately $250,000 a year for 2009,promoted energy efficency in Township operations and the community. Marple was recognized by EPA for reaching our goals for three years in the national "Change a Light, Change the World" program with our residents saving over $40,000 a year in their energy costs. Marple also was one of the first towns to have LED traffic lights and I was able to obtain a grant to fund 100% of the cost for West Chester Pike and also the Pre Emption devices on the Pike. We are saving over $40,000 a year in energy costs because of the LED lights.
