Candidate for
Member of Council; City of Cincinnati

This information is provided by the candidate

I live in Cincinnati's West End neighborhood and am the owner of a growing small business and the father of a beautiful girl. I grew up in Avondale and graduated from Hughes High School. After high school, I left Cincinnati to attend Morehouse College. During my time at Morehouse, I was involved with the Brisbane Institute, a policy institute--or "think tank"--focused on political leadership and community outreach. My work with the Brisbane Institute helped instill in me a commitment to meaningful public service. After graduating from Morehouse, I returned home to Cincinnati to work for the Kroger Company in regional management.

In the fall of 2007, two partners and I founded Amir Wallace Johnson Cleaning Concepts, a post-construction cleaning company. Two years later, we expanded the company to Atlanta, and then in 2012 to Charlotte, NC.

In addition to my business experience, I have been part of the support team for a number of council candidates. I served as a community liaison for Chris Bortz's re-election campaign and was the campaign manager for Jason Riveiro, who was the first Hispanic to run for City Council in Cincinnati. In 2005, Cincinnati Councilwoman Laketa Cole asked me to join her office as her legislative aid. During this time, I discovered that the heart of the city did not beat within walls of City Hall, but rather within the neighborhoods and communities that make up Cincinnati.

Our city government is lacking real leadership and the last thing needed is simply another politician. As a businessman and a former legislative aide, I have a history of working with people from different backgrounds throughout our city. My experiences as a small business owner and my background as a public servant make me uniquely suited to address the issues facing our city.
