1. What services do you believe should be considered basic and essential for the Village?
Golf Manor is a small community so the need is to concentrate on smart budgeting to sustain the infrastructure and maintain our police, fire and other services. These are all essential services that must be provided. We accomplish this by looking carefully at each expenditure to make sure it meets the criteria of creating a responsible and accountable government that can answer to our taxpayers. We strive to ensure that our community is sustainable and an excellent place to live and raise a family.2. How would you balance the Village Budget?
We engage our fire, police and administrative department heads to work with council to make sure we provide essential services with excellent value for our residents. We've received a few grants over the years that help us improve the community. We use our taxpayers money wisely to the best of our ability and we are always looking for cost savings and areas where we can get additional revenue without asking the property owners to provide more. It has been difficult in this bad economy to balance our budget but we are optimistic that the economy will improve and make it easier to balance the budget in the future.3. Citizen engagement is important to the health of local government. In what ways do you support citizen engagement?
I am always delighted when citizens are engaged in our community and would like to see more use of our Golf Manor website, a Golf Manor Facebook page created, with more social sites used such as Nextdoor so that we can keep people advised of what is taking place in our community. By doing these things, we will have more citizen engagement. I will always be available to our residents if they wish to talk. I participate with our residents on our Recreation Commission and Concerned Citizens committees. We have free community meals twice a year in which I participate so that I can meet our residents. I encourage people to come to our Council meetings and keep us informed of what is important to them.
