Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Ric Lohman

Candidate for
Board Member; Granada Sanitary District

This information is provided by the candidate

Dear Coastsiders, My wife, Barbara, and I have been serving the Coastside for the 23 years we have lived here. Barbara has worked these years in our local high school, from which all our three children graduated. I volunteered for 8 years on your MidCoast Community Council, serving there as President , Chair of the Planning and Zoning Committee, and Chair of the Park and Recreation Committee. I have served for 8 years as a Director on your Granada Sanitary District and as President. While on the Granada Sanitary District, I served as a representative to the Sewer Authority MidCoastside joint agency with Half Moon Bay and the Montara Water and Sanitary District. While serving on SAM, I have pressed for cooperation across all three agencies and the elimination of partisan politics. I co-authored our major recycled water pilot project that sought to bring recycled water to your Coastside. I helped lead the effort to purchase and protect the Burnham strip that fronts our community. I helped lead the effort for our new Wet Weather storage system that is installed there to prevent storm overflows onto our beaches. In addition to these local elected positions here on the Coast, I am currently serving as the President of the San Mateo County Chapter of the California Special Districts Association. This chapter brings together more than 22 county special districts to discuss areas of cooperation and education. I also served on the Board of Directors for the Save Our Shores organization that has done valuable work for local Marine Sanctuaries and protection of our local beaches. My political philosophy has been simply to do the public business without regard to personal gain or help to friends. I have worked to build bridges to political opponents in the hopes of reducing tensions and financial waste, while increasing communications and cooperation among groups on the Coast. The Coastside is a treasure that is protected by California and county laws. My political philosophy is that citizens and proposed projects must obey these laws for the greater good of our community. I have worked for years with our County Supervisors in the development of our Local Coastal Program that guides the growth and development of our area. I ask for your vote, as I have done in the past, to help me bring our community together and to protect our beautiful region.
