Maintain Budget and Reserves

The Fire District must continue to exercise control over its expenditures and future commitments. We need to resist any diversion of taxes paid to the District to fund other non-Fire District agencies.
If current trends continue the Fire District will face increasing cost to fund its PERS retirement program. I fully support honoring our existing retirement obligations, and the Fire District now has a two tiered retirement system in place for new hires, even with the two tiered system the increasing PERS rates are going up. The challenge of the Fire Board is to look for new and innovative ways to perform our mission without lose of service to the community and stay within our budget and maintain our reserves (this will be extremely difficult).

Some ways we may increase efficiencies:
1.Shared services with other Fire and local government agencies.
2.Impact fee for large new development within the Fire District.
3.Joint Power Agreement with other emergency response agencies.
4.Explore / Implement innovative response techniques
