Political Philosophy for Lyndon Comstock

I support the BCPUD moratorium on water meters. It was a wise decision at the time and is still necessary. If elected, I would like to help BCPUD focus on replacements or upgrades to portions of its extensive infrastructure of aging water distribution pipes. There has been a long-term issue of disinfectant byproducts in the water. BCPUD staff is working on that problem, I want to help keep the board's attention on it until it's resolved. I'm also interested in emergency water reserves. BCPUD's ability to access entirely new original sources of water will be, I expect, extremely limited, but I'd like to look at the feasibility of storing some additional water for emergency use, including fire-fighting. Another alternative may be to increase BCPUD's ability to process reservoir water for replenishment of treated water in the storage tanks if they are drawn down for fire-fighting during the dry season. I've been concerned about occasional efforts by individuals to inappropriately use the non-existent "paper" roads on the gridded mesa for motor vehicles. Also by the periodic issue of individuals driving at excessive speed on the Big Mesa, particularly on the unpaved roads. To the extent that these issues come before the BCPUD, I will push for environmentally appropriate restrictions on use of the "paper" roads and on efforts to support safe use of the Bolinas roads by motor vehicles. |
