As the President of the School Board, Lesli's leadership has contributed to Continuing to move the district forward. She knows the culture of our schools and embraces the values of the community.Since her election in 2009, Lesli Stein has worked tirelessly on behalf of the students, families, school employees, and community members she represents. Lesli currently serves as President of the School Board. During her first term, she served on the Executive Board of the Ventura County School Boards Association and graduated from the California School Boards Association Masters in Governance program. Lesli's leadership has contributed to: Adopting and expanding progressive programs to meet the needs of our students: Sumac Elementary School L-STEM Academy (Foreign Language, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) YB BEAT (Bridging Education, Arts, and Technology) Mariposa School of Global Education Academy of Media and Entertainment International Baccalaureate Service Learning/Community involvement Increasing student achievement by focusing on data-driven decisions Increasing counseling services at all schools Decreasing class sizes Expanding technology and wireless capabilities district-wide Prioritizing and balancing a complex budget focused on student learning Enhancing relationships with our cities, agencies, and legislators by engaging them on issues pertaining to education Improving communication and accountability through community meetings, newsletters, emails, and videos Identifying new revenue sources to support and maintain essential programs: 4/5 Science - New partnership with Las Virgenes Municipal Water District Library partnership with the cities of Hidden Hills and Calabasas The oversight of Measure G Facilities and Technology Bond Measure funds Opening of the Performing Arts Education Centers Establishing a successful partnership with T.H.E.
