Paul Steffen For Claremont School BoardBy Paul A. SteffenCandidate for Governing Board Member; Claremont Unified School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Why I am a Candidate.... I have a passion for serving the community that I grew up in and have settled in to raise my family. I am fortunate to not only live in Claremont but to also do business in Claremont. My goals are not to change the schools or implement any specific program or policy. I believe the most important role of the School Board is to support, encourage and stimulate creative solutions to the myriad of issues facing the School District on a daily basis. Any change should be based on how it will meet the varied needs of the students. As a member of the School Board I will represent the community served by the School District and be responsible for ensuring the School District fulfills its mission in serving the needs of the students and the community as a whole. If elected to the School Board, I will have regular office hours where anyone who has a concern regarding the School District can meet with me and share their concerns. I would welcome parents, teachers, students, staff, administration, or any other member of the community to share their concerns and ideas with me. I will utilize the relationships I have built over many years to seek assistance and cooperation from the private and public sectors of our community. The school district is highly regulated by state and federal statutes and any changes to any program or activity requires significant consideration and analysis to ensure that the duties and responsibilities required by local, state and federal governments are fulfilled. What Makes Me Different.... I am the only candidate that is an independent business man. I own and operate a real estate brokerage and a property management company. I bring with me the analytical skills that have allowed my companies to not only survive the economic down turn but to flourish and find solutions to the difficult economic challenges of the past several years. Most importantly, I bring a natural ability to listen, understand, communicate, and find solutions to problems in a collaborative and creative manner that values the input and beliefs of all concerned. My Skills and Abilities.... I believe the skills I have acquired and honed during my more than 30 years as a working adult will uniquely benefit the Claremont Unified School District. These include: Facilities Management Accounting (Private and Public including Fund Accounting) Fund Management Team Building Performance Analysis Strategic Planning Business Systems Staff Development Professional Experience....
