Education is requisite to a successful community
- Education is one of our communities most important responsibilities.
- Broad based education is the prerequisite of all democratic institutions, the motivating force behind economic growth, the preserver of culture, the foundation for rational discourse, the best means to upward social mobility and the guarantor of civilization.
- No democracy ever survived, no economy ever prospered and no culture ever advanced without a healthy, vibrant educational system.
- Our community requires a system of first rate schools that are characterized by a clear set of high expectations that are supported by an active, public accountability for performance.
- We must be willing to support our schools to ensure that all of our students will benefit from the instruction that they receive and work to ensure that our children have access to educational opportunities that nurture the very best in each of them. In this way we can come closer to the goal of preparing them to more fully participate in our political democracy, contribute to it's continually changing economy and recognize the unique benefits of our community's diversity for the creation of ideas and culture.
- The more John Adams thought about the future of his country, the more convinced he became that it rested on education.
"Before any great things are accomplished", he wrote, " a memorable change must be made in the system of education - and knowledge must become so general as to raise the lower ranks of society nearer to the higher. The education of a nation instead of being confined to a few schools and universities for the instruction of the few, must become the national care and expense for the formation of the many."
