Preserve San Ramon

By Thomas von Thury

Candidate for Council Member; City of San Ramon

This information is provided by the candidate
I want to preserve San Ramon as a primarily residential community and stop the transformation to a commercial center.
I am running for a seat on the City Council because I want San Ramon to remain primarily a family oriented, residential community. The quality of life that attracted my wife and me to settle in San Ramon over 15 years ago is threatened today by over-development and congestion. If elected, I will:

  • Oppose all new High-Density Developments, residential or commercial.

  • Oppose any new 680 interchange, whether at Norris Canyon or elsewhere.

  • Work to scale back the New City Center and implement it in phases. This massive project will transform San Ramon into a commercial center. More high-density development and a new 680 interchange will follow.

  • Oppose any new taxes or fees. Government must live within its means

I have not been active in politics before, but am committed to protecting the environment and life style that attracted my wife and me to San Ramon. Our government is supposed to serve the residents and protect their property, not promote growth and commercial interests.

I have over 30 years of business law and litigation experience in state and federal courts. I can resist pressure and say "no" to a bad deal. Please help me preserve San Ramon. I am not using fancy brochures or family photos to get your vote, just straight talk on the issues.
