Economic Prosperity and Fairness:By Jake WheatleyCandidate for Mayor; City of Pittsburgh; Democratic Party | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
http://wheatleyformayor.com/on-the-issues/Prosperity in Pittsburgh will only ever truly be realized when all Pittsburghers have the opportunity to prosper. A guiding principle for the economic growth of Pittsburgh in a Wheatley administration will be predicated on the idea that a quality education today will show us what our economic future will hold. We must bring together stakeholders of the community; from educators to parents and business leaders, so that we can properly set forth criteria for our schools that will meet the demands of where we want to lead Pittsburgh in the global economy. We will leverage and develop our emerging tech firms, provide smart neighborhood development resources so small businesses can thrive, work to link quality workforce programs that are connected to quality jobs. Lifting people out of poverty and into the middle-class, strengthening the middle-class that we have and encouraging an entrepreneurial spirit so that in the new industrial world, Pittsburgh can once again reclaim a position of leadership will provide the platform from which any Pittsburgher can take ownership of the city's economic success. |
