My top priority is to provide the best possible fire service using the existing resources of the District while planning for long-term sustainability. This means setting the highest possible training standards for the employees, encouraging the recruitment of the best qualified men and women, emphasising the employment of people who are best capable of providing the services needed and are motivated to remain as long-term employees.
Politically I believe that the fire service should maintain a neutral position on most politial matters. Its job is to provide emergency services, not to get involved in growth/no growth or other issues. Its comments should be restricted to those that improve service delivery, and its guiding principle should pose the question, "How does this action improve the health and safety of the community?".
