- This special election is being held to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Senator Gloria Negrete McLeod. Voters are from the district boundaries drawn for the 2002 election from San Bernardino and Los Angeles counties. The next regularly scheduled election will be held in 2014 using boundaries drawn after the 2010 census.
