Candidate for
State Senator; Pennsylvania State Senate; District 23

I am a native of Lycoming County. I grew up on a small farm in Cascade Township which is located in northeastern Lycoming County. I attended public school at Montoursville. Following high school, I attended Bucknell University for two years. I then spent four years in the military. I entered the service as a private, graduated from Officer Candidate School at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and was discharged as a first lieutenant. After military service, I graduated from Lycoming College and continued my studies at the American University in Washington, D.C. where I received a juris doctorate degree.

I was in private practice for over 30 years. During that time, I served as the Lycoming County solicitor for over 17 years. I still hold the position of assistant solicitor. In 2004, I was honored by the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania by being chosen Solicitor of the Year for the state. For more than 20 years, I served as general counsel to the Pennsylvania College of Technology, a special mission affiliate of the Pennsylvania State University, with a student body in excess of 6,000 students. Presently, I am a member of the board of directors of Penn College.

In addition to my normal Senate duties, I also serve as chairman of the board of director of the Center for Rural Pennsylvania. This entity is a joint legislative agency of the Senate and the House of Representatives. The Center for Rural Pennsylvania is the only legislative research entity which focuses on the needs and issues affecting rural Pennsylvania.

I am a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. I am also a life member of the National Rifle Association. I have hunted waterfowl with the same group of guys for 25 years.

I am married to Ann Pepperman,Esq, a partner in McCormick Law Firm, Williamsport, Pa. I serve as "Of Counsel" to the same firm. I have two children and two grandchildren.
