For Janet Anderson, Erie has been home since the day she left for college. Janet raised her family here, including her two girls who now attend college at SUNY Purchase and Westminster. After graduating from Penn State with a degree in accounting, Janet started her career here. For 26 years Janet has worked to create jobs and help grow our local economy here in Erie. She is the only candidate running for State Senate with the experience and the independence to continue the service of Senator Jane Earll. Janet has worked in economic development at every level. She has provided assistance to companies in the areas of business finance, international trade development, foreign direct investment, government contracting, and business retention and recruitment. Janet has served both in the public and Private Sector, including time as the Economic Development Director for Erie County and as Executive Director of the Northwest Regional Planning and Development Commission. Additionally, Janet served as an aide to Governor Tom Ridge, both as Deputy Director of the Governor's Northwest Office and at the Department of Community and Economic Development. Janet also served as the Director of Economic Development for Senator Jane Earll. Janet has also been very active in her community. She is a member of Wayside Presbyterian Church, where she teaches Sunday school and the Lakeshore Club District Association, currently serving as Treasurer. Janet currently serves as Vice-Chairman of the Erie Regional Airport Authority. |
