2. What plans do you have to address your top three priorities? (100 word limit)
|
Answer from Hubert E. Brown:
The State of Ohio has balanced it's budget on the backs of local governments and school districts. We have laid off police, firefighters, and teachers, only to see levies put on the voters to fund the same services they have already paid for. Our townships, cities, towns, and villages are suffering from unnecessary budget cuts, and with a half a billion dollar surplus, the State is not offering help, but will put the money in a rainy day fund. It is still financially raining in our communities, we need to return the local government funding to our communities.

3. What is the biggest issue facing the district you hope to represent? What will do you do in office to address it?
|
Answer from Hubert E. Brown:
The state government talks of not raising taxes, then they cut the funding of every local government and school district until they have to put a levy on to pay the bills. The state government has a stake in local government, and when they keep the money in Columbus (no one locally is paying less taxes), then you are asked to pay more for police and fire protection, and your school distict makes cuts that costs you more money. They didn't raise taxes, they balanced their budget on the backs of local governments and school districts. We need police and firefighters, teachers, and better roads. I think these are important issues facing the 29th District.
