CONCERNED CITIZEN In the early 1990s, I began submitting requests for financial public information. Although for several years the city did not make public monthly financial statements, those statements are now posted online as a result of my inquiries.

In many years the city did not timely release annual financial reports as legally required. Through my insistence, these reports are now available within the legal time frame.

PUBLIC RECORDS ACT 2004 The public has the right to inspect all public documents during regular business hours without delay or obstruction. The city's failure to respond to lawful requests resulted in costly lawsuits and investigations. The public should know why the district attorney's office had to serve search warrants to get public documents. Why didn't the City Clerk provide those documents when first requested?

CLOSED SESSIONS Brown Act The Brown Act limits discussion and decision-making on matters of public concern in closed session. Being City Clerk, I will witness all closed sessions; assuring the public that only items specifically on the closed session agenda will be discussed.

RESTORATION of PUBLIC TRUST As a citizen activist, I have prodded the City of Oxnard to become less secretive. As your City Clerk I will strive to restore public confidence in our city's government.
