I have strong fiscal conservative valuesBy Randy NemecekCandidate for Council Member; City of Simi Valley | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
You CAN count on me to protect our scarce public resources as well as the local environment from entrenched elites who have been profiting by doing what's in their own best interest. I am the REAL deal.In a world of greedy and corrupt career politicians that always put themselves first, I am a fresh face with fresh ideas that will fight for you and strive to put YOU first. I have a fiscally-responsible long-term plan for restoring prosperity by promoting economic growth, re-positioning the Simi Valley Town Center, and helping small business thrive in the future. Times have been tough for everyone. My unparalleled professional experience, stellar record of volunteer public service, and positive attitude makes me the only candidate in this race qualified to solve the city's long-term budgetary problems due to out-of-control pensions. I am also determined to restore transparency to local government decision-making. Some ideas I have for promoting fiscal consevative values: 1.Continue to balance the city's annual operating budget each year (preferably not having to dip into the reserves to accomplish it) 2.Publicly disclose all off-balance sheet liabilities that the taxpayers are obligated to pay in an easy-to-read format on an semi-annual basis 3.Immediately, at the start of the next council term, reduce the monthly benefits package to the reduced benefit package passed by the current city council for each newly-elected council member (including any re-elected incumbents). 4. Publicly disclose on the city's webpage the total compensation package for every elected public employee, appointed city employee, director, deputy director, and department head. Currently, data is only available for elected officials. Only salary data for the city manager and city attorney is posted. This information is beneficial for transparency purposes. 5. Publicly disclose all expenses incurred by elected public officials for which they are reimbursed by the city and taxpayers on a semi-annual basis. 6. Immediately eliminate all reimbursements for "personal expenses" incurred by public officials during the course of their official duties, such as all travel allowances, personal phone calls, dry-cleaning costs, etc. One of the council members has been reimbursed $4,000 just for personal cell phone use. 7. Immediately eliminate the life insurance plan, ($330/year), annual physical exam subsidy ($300/year), S/T & L/T disability plan life insurance plan, ($131/ year), and the employee assistance program perk ($59/year for an annual savings to the taxpayers of $4,000. All of these council members have full-time jobs that usually provide these same benefits. |
