Economic Development

As a member of the California State Assembly, Sherry Hodges will be a tireless advocate for California's taxpayers. She understands how bureaucratic red tape, job-crushing regulations and burdensome taxes are obstacles to a flourishing business atmosphere, reducing opportunities for job creation and growth; ultimately chipping away at a community's quality of life. California must have a rainy day reserve and expenditures that match our revenue. We must not continue to hurt producers and the most needy while unaccountable government departments and agencies get a free pass.

Government Accountability and Transparency

Sherry is committed to tackling the problem of huge budget deficits and reckless spending in Sacramento through seeking greater accountability and transparency. Through her twenty plus years of public and private sector experience, she has honed her ability to hold her ground, never giving in to unreasonable demands and burdens on taxpayers. Sherry will fight for pension reform, and greater oversight over government waste and fraud while rejecting new taxes and fees to get California back on a fiscally sound path.

Education

Sherry served as an elected member of the San Dieguito Union High School Board. She knows California's children deserve safe, exceptional schools that offer a solid foundation based on fundamentals like science, math and reading to nurture tomorrow's workforce. Vocational and technical education needs to be restored in our schools, so that all children have the hope of obtaining careers and personal independence. She understands the importance of collaborative planning for fiscal accountability and that the money must reach the classroom. Sherry is a vocal advocate for greater parental involvement, strong academic standards and fiscal responsibility in all types of education settings.

Public Safety and Infrastructure Protection

Californians rely on their local government predominantly for infrastructure necessities and public safety. While few disagreements arise over the needs for these services, differences emerge on the level of service and the best way to provide them. Sherry believes we need to maintain our critical infrastructure while working at efforts at improving our modes of transportation and highways. Freedom to move about the state enables residents and businesses to flourish, leading to greater economic development. Californians and visitors deserve to be safe - we must control spending at every level so that our local governments can afford the needed police, fire, life guards, first responders and emergency personnel for prevention and protection.
