1. How will you prioritize the budget choices the Legislature must make to align the state’s income and spending?
|
Answer from Edward Headington:
My priorities will be job creation, protecting public safety including firefighters and police, improving education and reforming our budget process. The budget must not be held hostage; Californians must be given renewed confidence in the state's ability to provide these fundamental services.

2. What types of changes or reforms, if any, do you think are important to make our state government function more effectively?

3. Fees for public higher education have gone up dramatically and funding has been cut. Is this a priority concern, and if so, what measures would you propose to address it?
|
Answer from Edward Headington:
The cost of public education at all levels is an important issue facing California families. As a father myself, I have found that this is an extremely important issue on voters' minds today. As a state legislator, I will work to ensure that funds for public education at all levels are used as efficiently as possible. At the K-12 level, I will work with the school board members, administrators, teachers and parents in my district to provide the best-quality education possible. At the higher education level, I will work to ensure that the UC and Cal State campuses have the resources they need to provide the level of education Californians have come to expect.

4. What other major issues do you think the Legislature must address? What are your own priorities?
|
Answer from Edward Headington:
My priorities will be job creation, protecting public safety including firefighters and police, improving education and reforming our budget process.
