Ballot StatementBy Kathy MillerCandidate for Council Member; City of Petaluma | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Local Businesswoman, Attorney, Former Planning CommissionerAs a resident of the East Side, I have worked hard for Petaluma because our citizens deserve the best. I have been a volunteer and community leader for the past 12 years. Our parks, pools and playing fields have deteriorated badly during this recession. As a volunteer, I helped gather over 5,000 signatures for a ballot measure to save them. Our city's character and charm must be preserved and enhanced. I served on the Planning Commission from 2006 to 2009, one year as Chair. We reviewed and revised our General Plan, ensuring responsible economic development and neighborhood protections. I served on the Petaluma Development Code Advisory Committee for two years where we also addressed development issues. I will work to secure funding for streets and parks. I will support infill development to preserve our historic town while bringing jobs to our citizens. I will advocate for green building standards. I will work to give our police and fire the support they need. Like you, I am a strong supporter of the Rainier cross-town connector and interchange. I will always work courteously to build consensus with other City Council members on all issues facing our community. I ask for your vote. |
