IntroBy Laura GonzalezCandidate for City; City of Santa Rosa High School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Why I am the candidate to vote for on November 6th.It has been a privilege to serve as a Santa Rosa City Schools board member these last 4 years. As a teacher with over 20 years experience in public education, and a parent of two recent graduates from Montgomery High School, I have brought a fresh perspective to the board that had been lacking. I have used my educational experience, leadership, commitment and passion to represent all students and families. I have pursued programs that work, questioned district decisions I didn't agree with, all while fighting to maintain fiscal responsibility. Santa Rosa has come a long way from the city I remember as a child. We live in a much more diverse community and need a school board that is strong, compassionate and knowledgeable not only of best educational practices and budgets, but of the obstacles that our students face. There are many good programs at work in our schools, but we can still do better. Beyond our current focus on testing, we must continue to work toward building a stronger and more engaging curriculum that prepares our students for success in life, whether they continue on with their education, or enter the workforce. Thank you for your support. |
